Many owners of flat metal roofs were unable to use these surfaces for photovoltaic systems due to load-bearing restrictions of the roofs for a conventional system. Also, there were concerns about leaks once the mounting system was installed. The SOLON Black 280/12 is manufactured using 72 monocrystalline cells and weighs only 8.5 kg/m², making it extremely lightweight. This extreme low weight is achieved by eliminating the frame and using 3.2 mm of glass. The connection socket is rotated by 180 degrees to facilitate assembly and improve cable routing. The modules are attached with an adhesive and are therefore also particularly well-protected against theft. It also is protected against corrosion with other foreign materials on the roofs.
Predrilled holes already integrated in the modules’ innovative plastic frame make speedy installation of the SOLON Black 160/05 possible. The SOLON Black 160/05 can be screwed directly to the roofing battens; no additional sarking membranes, aluminum rails and module clamps are necessary. Lateral rubber seals and sealing lips integrated in the polyurethane frame prevent moisture from penetrating between the modules. Side plates included in the system’s scope of delivery make connection to tiles an easy matter. Installation of the modules with slightly overlapping frames allows optimal water drainage.
