High-tech exterior. Flexible interior.

Architecture that serves the environment – and people. SOLON corporate headquarters is based on the principle of a “refined shell structure”. The exterior and interior appear to merge into one another. For the high-tech facade, emphasis was placed on using excellent thermal insulation and high-quality, durable materials. Superfluous elements were eliminated in favor of interior flexibility, which is demonstrated by the use of exposed cables and ventilation ducts – the technology that we work with is put on display. This level of flexibility also allows us to set up new workplaces at any time and any place. Production and administration are on an equal footing at a shared location – after all, neither can exist without the other.

The SOLON production facility on the western side comprises a large rectangular hall with offices and rooms on the south-west facade. The SOLON administration building is situated to the east, so that the sun passes over it throughout the course of the day and hence allows for the optimum use of daylight. The main entrance to SOLON, with its glass atrium, is located in the middle of the two buildings. Several aisles lead from the atrium to the individual departments.

The stairs rise from within the interior of the building, passing through the green roof toward the sky. Clad in rusty CORTEN steel, they lend the structure a raw, unfinished note – an aesthetic feature that highlights the constant change and progress in the company.

Production and administration at SOLON are accommodated in separate buildings but linked to each other by three bridges. The intelligent combination of glass, steel and wood in the exterior shell creates a very open and inviting atmosphere.
