SOLON Corporation appoints Senior Finance Executives from Sunpower and Leoni

Tucson, Ariz., March 21, 2011. SOLON Corporation, one of the largest providers of turnkey solar power plants and manufacturer of crystalline silicon solar modules in the U.S., today announced the appointment of two prominent finance executives—David Goldman as Vice President, Project Finance and Strategic Planning, and Jay Meridew as Vice President, Finance. Further deepening SOLON’s roster of project finance experts, Goldman will oversee all financing aspects for SOLON’s commercial and utility-scale solar projects. Meridew will assume responsibility for accounting and information technology functions.

“We are excited to have both David and Jay contribute their considerable expertise to SOLON, and help continue to cement the company’s position as an industry leader in developing and constructing utility scale solar projects,” said Dan Alcombright, Regional Vice President and General Manager of North America for SOLON. “David’s experience closing distributed generation and utility-scale solar projects, and his deep knowledge of the solar industry will make him a tremendous asset to SOLON. Jay is a proven financial officer who has demonstrated exceptional strategic and tactical leadership throughout his career, and we look forward to adding his skills and experience to our leadership team.”

Goldman previously served as Director of Structured Finance at SunPower Corporation, where he held positions of increasing responsibility within the Structured Finance group and successfully closed over 350MW of solar transactions. He has led structuring, modeling, documentation and negotiations with multiple tax-equity investors, debt providers, and PPA off-takers.

Meridew has served for 17 years as a Chief Financial Officer to Tucson-based companies. Most recently, he served as Chief Financial Officer of Leoni Wiring Systems’ North American subsidiary in Tucson, where he oversaw sales, purchasing, finance, IT, risk management, human resources and administration functions. Prior to Leoni, Meridew served as Vice President of Finance at Ventana Medical Systems, Inc., where he was responsible for building a team of financial and information system professionals to support a rapidly growing technology business.
